What is an End Carriage?

The end carriage beam, which is attached to the crane main beam, serves as the entire driving mechanism for an overhead crane. As part of a complete set of equipment, this carriage beam also has a box girder construction and includes a motor, reducer, and wheels.

In its simplest form, an End Carriage is one of the group of carriages that holds up the main crane gantry. End carriages have drive units that move the crane framework up and down the length of the workshop.

This carriage beam may travel at a speed of 20 m/s or 30 m/s when powered by standard motors.
